在我的实验室利用美国能源部的资金，由Hiroaki Shizuya, Ung jin Kim和其他
许多人生产的所有的DNA文库和所有的实验材料，以及与Julie Korenberg合作生
产的所有的实验材料，都属于公共财产。在我们发明BAC载体并生产BAC文库之时，
我们决定不申请专利。我们要让此实验材料之全部能供研究和商业使用。我们已
把这些材料送给了世界上所有的主要实验室，并将之存在Research Genetics公司，
可以以很低的价格、不加限制地获得。

至于产前诊断（特别是在中国），那是另一回事。

I spoke to Xiao-ning. She told me that the press misunderstood her and that
she was misquoted.
All of the libraries and all of the material that was generated in my
Laboratory by Hiroaki Shizuya, Ung jin Kim and many others as well as all
of the material that was generated in collaboration with Julie Korenberg
under grants from the DOE, is in the public domain. When we invented the
BAC vectors and generated BAC libraries we decided that we did not want to
patent them. We wanted all of this material to be available for research
and commercial use. We have given  these materials to all of the  major
laboratories around the world and we have deposited them with Research
Genetics and they are available with no strings attached for very low
cost.
As for prenatral diagnosis especially in China - that is another story.
